Madurai's First Turf Wicket at the Super Kings Academy

SUPER KINGS ACDMEY LAUNCHES IN MADURAI
Inaugurated by S Badrinath former India and CSK star, stands tall as the only place where you could play on turf wickets in Madurai.

Senthilkumar Subramanian, CEO Kalvi Schools feels that this initiative is the steppingstone towards Madurai Cricket's rise and overall development of young cricketers studying in his school.

It is important to note that two turf nets were inaugurated in Vazhaga Bharatham Cricket Academy in Ellis Nagar and in the Le Chatlier Nets at the Race Course Ground. Unfortunately, both fell into disrepair and were not properly maintained. They have now been converted into matting wickets.

Recently, this writer had the privilege of attending the inauguration of the Super Kings Academy at Kalvi Group of Schools in Sholavandan, Madurai. The inauguration was attended by Mr.Ram Titto, the honorable Joint Secretary of the Madurai District Association, Mr. S Ramakrishnan, the Secretary of the Madurai District Association, Mr. Louis Mariano, Manager of the Super Kings Academy, Mr. Nallamani Chella, managing director of Nallamani Educational Institutions, and Mr. Senthilkumar Subramanian, CEO and Managing director of Kalvi Schools.

The academy features three high-quality turf wickets—the first of their kind in Madurai—along with two matting wickets and three artificial turfs. Cricket in Madurai is currently in decline. The event, held around 5 PM, included the presence of former Indian cricketer Subramanian Badrinath, who graciously participated in a Q&A session with the young talents of the Super Kings Academy. It was inspiring to see participants of all ages, including children as young as four, eager to learn and grow. Kalvi School organized the event with great enthusiasm, and it was delightful to witness young students welcoming S. Badrinath with face masks in his likeness. This inauguration stands as a testament to the vision of Senthilkumar Subramanian, whose dream of elevating cricket in Madurai is coming to fruition. His dedication to the sport, evident during the Kalvi Superheroes launch and in subsequent discussions, has been instrumental in driving this initiative forward.
The Writer was part of the Kalvi Superheroes and had a deep conversation with Mr. Senthilkumar years
ago, at his office in KK Nagar. and the writer believes that his vision has come true.

There is optimism that the Super Kings Academy will become a significant contributor to Madurai's cricketing landscape, helping the next generation reach new heights while fostering a holistic approach to the sport. Although it may take a few years to see the full impact, there is confidence that Madurai’s talent will soon be climbing the ranks.
